Today I was in the mall with my daughter and I decided to finally check out the store Lush. If you are unfamiliar with them like I was, Lush is  an all natural body product store, they do not use animal testing, all products are handmade, and only use fresh organic produce. Once I entered the store and saw how they use all the herbs that I recommend for aroma and massage therapy,  I knew I was in the right spot.  This gem of a store  has amazing products  and the people that work there are knowledgable and honest.  The aromas made my nose happy  and skin soaked up the moisture in the creamy lotions.   The body lotions can be found for every skin type and condition. The names of the products sounded like an ice cream store. Dream Cream has oat milk, lavender and chamomile to soothe and moisturize irritated skin. The products have a clean smelling, there are no heavy perfume smells since it is natural. The  Fresh Face Mask looked like dips for a party . The masks all refrigerated and last about 6 days since they are fresh. To  help keep my face looking youthful I tried the Ayesha mask.   It feels great on my skin and we will see if there are any noticeable results.

For teens there is  Cupcake, a chocolate mask for deep cleaning and calming to the skin. Some of the cleanser and masks look like they could be eaten. Since  our  skin  absorbs  into your system everything we put on it, you should be able to eat it as well. ( yuck I would not want to eat some of the things I have put on my skin) For a great relaxing night the Bath melts or Bath Bombs could make a regular bath into a top notch spa experience with great aroma therapy just add candles and music . An interesting product that they have is Toothy tabs, I have not tried it but it could be a great all natural alternative to the regular toothpaste. For all the people looking for natural deodorant, they have that too. They carry a powder  and also a bar. The sales person said she uses them both and it works great. I will test that out when I work out next in the 80 degree temperatures.

A Great way to start your day Every morning, on an empty stomach, drink a cup of warm water with 1/2 of a lemon or 2 to 3 Tablespoons of lemon juice. Add 1 Tablespoon of honey.

Ancient Wisdom is easy to use. I added a scoop to my brownie mix and it blended nicely with the chocolate flavors. I also added it to my coffee in the morning and tried the  Cacao Cappuccino recipe, this was a nice morning treat.  It can also be added to a smoothie  for quick convenience.

 Cacao Cappuccino

2 cups of hot tea or coffee

2 Tablespoon of Cacao powder

 1 Tablespoon Maca powder

1- 2 Tablespoons Coconut oil

1 Tablespoon Honey or agave

1 teaspoon Cinnamon

1 scoop Ancient Wisdom

Stir till smooth  and coconut oil is melted.

Eat your peas! Here is the great reason why


Growing up your Mom would tell you eat your peas! And like most kids you did not like them. I remember my youngest brother eating them like he was taking pills. It was painful to watch  as he would take a mouth full of water and only a few peas in his mouth as he would try to swallow them whole. He would continue this grueling task till the pile of peas on his plate were gone. My other brothers and I would laugh at his funny tradition. The funny thing is if he ever tried them he would have realized they were tender sweet  morsels fresh from the garden. Snow Pea, orange and jicama salad

  • 4 cups snow peas (about 12 ounces), trimmed
  • 2 oranges
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

Sugar Snap Peas - I like these raw on a salad or dipped in hummus or cooked lightly

Dry brittle nails can be a result of a deficiency in iron. Foods that are rich in iron are eggs, spinach and fortified cereals. If you pair them up with Vitamin C rich foods such as citrus, bell peppers, and tomatoes it will help the body absorb the iron.

A folate deficiency can make the nails look dull. Great foods that contain folate are lentils, beans and spinach

Sharpen your mind by eating beets


These gems are great anti inflammatory and for detoxification.

These colorful root vegetables contain powerful nutrient compounds that help protect against heart disease, birth defects and certain cancers, especially colon cancer. These  vegetables are rich in antioxidant  carotenoids, and in particular, beta-carotene.

The nitric acid in beets increases the blood flow in your body including the brain that are associated with degeneration and dementia.

Eating beets raw packs more nutrients.  A great way to eat them raw is by juicing at adding them to a salad.

A great way that I like to eat beets is by roasting them

Oven Roasted Vegetables


  • 4 beets ( Different colors looks nice )
  • 1 small butternut squash, peeled and cubed
  • 1 medium sweet potato, peeled and cubed
  • 1 medium red onion, cut into wedges
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh rosemary or 2 teaspoons dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 apple sliced
  • add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar if you want it sweeter


  • Preheat oven to 425°. In a  bowl, whisk oil,
  • vinegar and seasonings. Pour over vegetables and toss to coat.
  • Transfer to two greased  baking pan. Bake, uncovered,
  • 30-40 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally. Yield: 7
  • servings.
